Last updated: [INSERT DATE — update this every time you make a real change]
Before you publish this page: this is a starting draft covering the
standard sections a software company's privacy policy needs. Replace every
[BRACKETED] placeholder with your real details, and have a lawyer (or a service
like Termly / iubenda) review the final version before it goes live — this is
especially important once you're processing payments and accounts for real customers.
1. Who we are
Thenema Writer is a product of Thenema Visuals ("we", "us", "our").
This policy explains what information we collect when you use our
website and desktop application, why we collect it, and what
choices you have.
2. Information we collect
Account information: your email address and password (stored securely via Supabase, our authentication provider) when you create an account.
Payment information: when you purchase a license, payment is processed by [PADDLE / your payment processor]. We do not store your full card number ourselves — the payment processor handles this directly.
Device information: a non-identifying device fingerprint used to enforce license device limits (so a license can't be shared across unlimited computers).
Usage analytics: if you use our website, we use Google Analytics to understand which pages are visited and how, using anonymized/aggregated data.
Support communications: messages you send us via live chat (Tidio) or the contact form, including any information you choose to share in them.
Your creative content: scripts, story documents, and other content you create in the app are stored [LOCALLY ON YOUR DEVICE / IN OUR CLOUD — confirm which is accurate] and are not accessed by us except as needed to provide support you request.
3. How we use this information
To create and manage your account and license.
To process payments and send purchase confirmations/receipts.
To enforce the device limits described in our Terms of Service.
To respond to support requests.
To improve our website and product based on aggregated usage patterns.
To send you important account or product notices (not marketing, unless you opt in separately).
4. Third parties we work with
We rely on a small number of trusted service providers to run Thenema Writer. Each only receives the information it needs to do its job:
Supabase — account authentication and backend database.
[Paddle / your payment processor] — payment processing.
Google Analytics — anonymized website usage statistics.
Tidio — live chat support widget.
[UptimeRobot or similar] — automated monitoring to confirm our website is online (does not collect personal data about visitors).
We do not sell your personal information to anyone, ever.
5. Cookies
Our website uses cookies set by Google Analytics and Tidio to remember basic
session information and understand site usage. You can disable cookies in your
browser settings at any time; the site will still function, though live chat
history and analytics won't work as intended.
6. Data retention
We keep account information for as long as your account is active, plus a
reasonable period afterward for legal, accounting, and fraud-prevention
purposes. You can request deletion at any time (see Section 8).
7. Data security
We take reasonable technical measures to protect your information, including
encrypted connections (HTTPS) and secure credential storage. No system is
perfectly secure, and we encourage you to use a strong, unique password for
your account.
8. Your rights
You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to
correct it, or request that we delete your account and associated data,
by contacting us at [PRIVACY CONTACT EMAIL]. Depending on where you live,
you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR (EU/UK) or
CCPA (California) — [expand this section if you expect customers from
those regions].
9. Children's privacy
Thenema Writer is not directed at children under 13 (or 16 in the EU),
and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll update the "Last
updated" date above when we do, and for significant changes we'll
make reasonable efforts to notify active account holders.
